Capitals to terminate Brendan Leipsic’s contract following fallout from leaked messages

The Washington Capitals introduced Friday that ahead Brendan Leipsic was positioned on unconditional waivers after his personal messages had been leaked on social media Wednesday.

The Caps issued a quick assertion Friday confirming that Leipsic’s contract can be terminated after photographs of personal Instagram group messages, which included Leipsic and Florida Panthers’ Jack Rodewald, had been circulated Wednesday night and appeared to point out Leipsic making vulgar and profane remarks — considered one of which was directed on the spouse of his former teammate, Tanner Pearson.

The NHL issued its personal assertion a day earlier condemning Leipsic’s “misogynistic and reprehensible” remarks.

Leipsic issued an apology on Thursday, explaining that the screenshots surfaced after a pal’s social media account had been hacked.
