Misplaced within the sands of time.
10 years in the past, Ubisoft Montreal was engaged on an unannounced Prince of Persia recreation subtitled Redemption.
Eight years in the past, footage of this recreation was quietly posted to YouTube. And there it lay buried, below the sands of time, largely unnoticed – till immediately.
At present, this footage was seen and promptly popped up on Resetera, the place it rapidly sparked curiosity in Ubisoft’s long-dormant collection.
The video reveals a reboot of kinds, with arcadey wall-hopping gameplay and what appears like enjoyable fight with the collection’ trademark time-manipulation in place.
It was in early growth round 2010, following the launch of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands – the collection’ final new big-budget launch.
Writing on Twitter, former Ubisoft developer Jonathan Cooper confirmed the footage as a pre-rendered recreation pitch which Ubisoft in the end cancelled.
“Superb work from animation director Khai Nguyen (For Honor) and staff,” Cooper wrote. “This goal recreation footage (pre-rendered recreation pitch) impressed our personal pitch for Murderer’s Creed three as they did such an awesome job making it appear like actual gameplay.”
Talking of For Honor, it’s maybe not a coincidence that Ubisoft’s Prince has lastly been given a return (form of) throughout the recreation. Final month, For Honor hosted a Blades of Persia crossover occasion starring the character.
